Environment Sunday 2026

Environment Sunday this year takes place on 7th June, the closest Sunday to World Environment Day (5th June). This is the perfect opportunity to talk about climate justice in your church! Check out these updated resources below for some helpful starting points:

Stop Rosebank: Climate Craftivism Project

Join our climate craftivism project to Stop Rosebank! 

Update (April 2026): Since we launched this action, the government have requested additional information from the prospective field operators on the climate impacts of the fossil fuels that would be extracted from the sites. That means the final decision is likely to not be announced for some months but suggests the government is seriously considering the impact of not only the extraction phase but also the burning of the fossil fuels further down the line.

Craftivism is a gentle way to protest. We use creativity to reflect, build relationships and encourage people in power to make positive change. Sarah Corbett is one well-known craftivist who inspired this project! 

To continue supporting our friends at Stop Rosebank we wanted to launch a project with a craftivist spin. They are currently campaigning for people to send a postcard to their MP to pressure them to sign the #StopRosebank pledge, publicly opposing the Rosebank oil field and advocating for a just transition for oil and gas workers. Instead of writing to your MP, why not send them something you’ve made? 

Knit, sew, crochet, paint anything to send to your MP – encourage them to sign the #StopRosebank pledge through craft. Get creative in your activism! Send your creations to us too at hello@jpit.uk.

COP30

COP30 was held in Belém, Brazil from 10-21 November 2025, described as the ‘Implementation COP’.

Mass Lobby

JPIT & the Constituency Action Network joined in with the Climate Coalition’s Lobby Week from 13-20 September. We are asking churches and church members to meet with your MP in your local area, to have a conversation about what action to tackle the climate and nature crisis matters most to you. This is a new chance to talk locally about the campaign asks we took to Westminster last month and to call for their leadership on these issues.

Climate Coalition Mass Lobby

The Climate Coalition organised a mass lobby at Westminster on the 9th of July. We were there, in the faith space organised by Faith for the Climate. JPIT & the Constituency Action Network also joined in with the Climate Coalition’s Lobby Week from 13-20 September. We asked churches and church members to meet with your MP in your local area, to have a conversation about what action to tackle the climate and nature crisis matters most to you.
